Each fall, director Ken Mitten leads an auditioned cast in the
presentation of a secular play with family appeal. Auditions are open to the
community and usually occur in May. Previous shows have included Every Little Crook and Nanny
by Peter Cook; Fools by Neil
Simon; The Duck Variations by David
Mamet; and The Bald Soprano by
Eugene Ionesco. Rehearsals begin middle to late summer. Performances are
usually the last weekend of September.

Instrumental Opportunities |
All are welcome! It may be hard to believe, but every week and every
season at Calvary Church, guitars and drums play alongside tubas and
saxophones to lead us in worship and celebration. There truly is an
opportunity for every instrumentalist.

Orchestra |
Participation in the orchestra is open to middle and high
school players and adult players with no audition. Instrumentalists are
encouraged to be WORSHIPPERS FIRST and musicians second. This instrumental
group welcomes all classical and contemporary instruments, and appropriate
scores and charts are provided and marked for players
each week. Take-home rehearsal packets are also available upon
request. Orchestra rehearses Wednesdays 8:00 - 9:00p and Sundays 8:30a
(before A service) and 10:15a (before B service). Primary and secondary
keyboardists are welcome to join this group after a Director's Interview /
Audition.

Handbells |
Participation is open to middle and high school students and adults.
Ringing experience and/or keyboard knowledge helpful, but not required.
Format is dependent on each playing position, so those participating must be
extremely dedicated
to rehearsal and performance schedules. Players will acquire
excellent sight reading and teamwork skills, and have a lot of fun.
Rehearsals are Tuesday nights, 7:00 - 8:30.

Seasonal Celebrations |
Special seasons like Advent and Independence Day often bring
additional opportunities for instrumentalists. These special musical events
are
planned with convenient and compact rehearsal schedules, making it
easy for those who want to join us for only a week or two.

Loaner Instruments |
For those who would like to play, we have a limited inventory of
instruments that can be
borrowed. If you have one that's collecting dust in the closet,
consider donating it to Worship & Arts.

Vocal Opportunities |
It's one thing to be a singer, but an entirely different thing to be a WORSHIPPER. While we are out to get people involved, we also realize that to sing a song from your heart, you have to LIVE IT. Because God alone is our audience, we always strive to offer
up excellence, and we do everything we can to prepare beautiful music. When we gather to worship, our preparations give way to our testimony, so that the Message is more important - more than the messenger or the medium.

Singers Sunday |
This monthly event is a great way to try us out! On this designated Sunday each month, willing worshippers pack the choir loft! Two weeks prior to each Singers Sunday date, rehearsal CDs are available. Attendance at Wednesday rehearsals is NOT REQUIRED for participation in the monthly Singers Sunday, so singers are empowered
to practice on their own, or join us in Wednesday evening rehearsals. On the designated Singers Sunday, all singers meet in the loft at 8:30a (before the A service) and/or at 10:15a (before the B service) for a mass worship rehearsal. Singers Sunday is open to all vocalists as a one-time, monthly commitment based on their availability.
