Calvary Church hosted "Breakfast with
Santa" on Saturday, December 1st. Over 200 people crowded into the
Children's auditorium, awaiting the arrival of our special guest. They enjoyed
crafts, breakfast, and meeting new people from all over the neighborhood.
One of the first people
to arrive was a little boy about six years old. As soon as the car stopped, he
tore out of there and ran full speed toward the building. But he headed toward the wrong entrance.
When he hit the door, he pressed his little face against the glass and could be
heard saying, "Whooaaa!"
He was standing just a few feet away from a beautifully
decorated Christmas tree, and could see Santa's Elfs scurrying about completing
last minute preparations. Quickly he looked both directions, found the right
entrance and was gone again, this time to the right
door.
Parents were just as
enthusiastic and appreciative of the work of Calvary Church to host a community-wide event for
our children. They were particularly pleased to hear the true message of Jesus'
birth coming from Santa himself.
Our thanks to all those
who attended and to everyone who had a part in the preparation and presentation
of the event. Special thanks goes to our business sponsors who provided food
and goodies for the children. We are also VERY appreciative for the work of
Becky Moore, who labored many hours in planning and organizing the event and
encouraging others to participate in making it a
success.
Next year's plans are
already being considered, only it will be bigger and
better!
