Therefore,
He had to be made like his brethren in all things, so that He might
become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to
God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For since He
Himself was tempted in that which He has suffered, He is able to
come to the aid of those who are tempted.
Hebrews
2:17-18
The writer of the book
of Hebrews spends a good amount of time making it clear how Jesus
is better. Better than angels,
better than Moses, more (much
more) than just a great teacher or preacher. He is
better because he is God but also because He has been where we are
each day, on Earth, tempted and suffering as the scripture says.
Our God loves us and understands us because He made us and He has
felt what we feel, experienced what we are
experiencing.
